The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
