The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a great day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
