Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the swift scatterers 1 And those [clouds] carrying a load [of water] 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 Let whoever wishes, turn away from Our Quran. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day whereon in the Fire they will be burned 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
