O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Taiyibat [all kinds of Halal (legal) foods which Allah has made legal (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits, etc.)], and do righteous deeds. Verily! I am Well-Acquainted with what you do. 51 And verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: remain, then, conscious of Me! 52 But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. 53 But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time. 54 Do they fancy that Our continuing to give them wealth and children (means) that 55 Are quickly giving them goodness? In fact, they do not know. 56 Those who tremble with fear of their Lord; 57 who have full faith in the Signs of their Lord; 58 And those who with their Lord associate not anyone. 59 And those who give what they give and their hearts fear for they have to return to their Lord. 60 to God, these are the ones who really compete with each other in virtuous deeds and are the foremost ones in the task. 61 And We tax not any person except according to his capacity, and with Us is a Record which speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this; and their deeds too vary from the way (mentioned above). They will persist in these deeds 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 [But they will be told] "Cry not in supplication today; for, behold, you shall not be succoured by Us! 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Have they not pondered the Word, or hath that come unto them which came not unto their fathers of old? 68 Or is it that they were unaware of their Messenger and were therefore repelled by him for he was a stranger to them? 69 Or do they say, "In him is madness?" Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse. 70 If truth had followed their whims and desires, heavens and earth and all that lives in them would have been brought to ruin. Rather We have brought them their Reminder. Yet they keep avoiding their Reminder. 71 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers. 72 You are calling them to a Straight Way, 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 (They are such) that We seized them with chastisement (and yet) they did not humble themselves before their Lord, nor do they entreat 76 So that when at last We open up the gate of severe punishment on them they will be overwhelmed with despair. 77
