The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
