The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In the nearby land, and after their defeat they will soon be victorious. 3 In some few years. Allah's is the command, before and after. And on that day the believers will rejoice. 4 in God's help; God helps whomsoever He will; and He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 5 The promise of Allah! Allah does not fail His promise, yet most people do not know. 6 They know an outward part of this life, but of the Everlasting Life they are inattentive. 7 Do they not contemplate within themselves? Allah has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord, are disbelievers. 8 What, have they not journeyed in the land and beheld how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than themselves in might, and they ploughed up the earth and cultivated it more than they themselves have cultivated it; and their Messengers came to them with the clear signs; and God would never wrong them, but themselves they wronged. 9 Evil was the end of the harmdoers, because they belied the verses of Allah and mocked at them. 10
