Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the winds which carry dust particles, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
