Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions lined up 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
