The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
