The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and he belied the finest 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
