The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a host of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
