Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets outspread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
