The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness, 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 Wherein they will abide for ever; 3 And it (the Koran) warns those who say: 'Allah has taken a son' 4 Neither they nor their fathers had any knowledge of such utterance (that God has begotten a son). Whatever they say about (this matter) is vicious blasphemy and plain lies. 5 Will you kill yourself for grief of them if they do not believe in this presentation? 6 We have appointed all that is on the earth an adornment for it, in order that We try which of them is finest in works. 7 We will surely reduce all that is on it to barren dust. 8 Or, do you think that the Fellows of the Cave and the Inscription were of Our wonderful signs? 9 Recall what time the youths betook themselves to the cave, then said: our Lord! vouchsafe unto us mercy from before Thee, and prepare for us in our affair a right course. 10 We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years, 11 Afterwards. We raised them up again, that We might know which of the two parties would better calculate the while they had tarried. 12
