The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
