Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
