The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
