The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
