Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent - 1 who created death and life, that He might try you which of you is fairest in works; and He is the All-mighty, the All-forgiving -- 2 Who hath created seven heavens in harmony. Thou (Muhammad) canst see no fault in the Beneficent One's creation; then look again: Canst thou see any rifts? 3 Look twice (and keep on looking), your eyes will only become dull and tired. 4 We have adorned the lower heaven with lamps, and have made them a means to drive away the satans. We have prepared for them the chastisement of the Blazing Fire. 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord there awaits the chastisement of Gehenna -- an evil homecoming! 6 When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth. 7 It almost explodes in rage. Whenever a group is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them, "Did no one come to warn you?" 8 They will reply: "Yea, a warner did indeed come unto us, but we gave him the lie and said, 'Never has God sent down anything [by way of revelation]! You [self-styled warners] are but lost in a great delusion!"' 9 And they will say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing Fire!" 10 So they shall acknowledge their sins, but far will be (forgiveness) from the inmates of the burning fire. 11 Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward. 12 (Whether you) speak in secret or aloud, He knows the innermost of the chests. 13 Does the One Who is Subtle, All-aware, and Who created all things not know all about them? 14
