Seest thou not those that dispute concerning the Signs of Allah? How are they turned away (from Reality)?- 69 Those who deny the Scripture and that wherewith We send Our messengers. But they will come to know, 70 When iron collars will be rounded over their necks, and the chains, they shall be dragged along. 71 In boiling water; they will then be ignited* in the fire. (Like fuel – see verse 2:24) 72 Then they will be asked, "Where are the idols which you worshipped besides God?" 73 Apart from God?" They will answer: "They have left us in the lurch and fled. In fact it was nothing that we prayed to before." That is how God sends the unbelievers astray. 74 'That is because you rejoiced in the earth without right, and were exultant. 75 Enter [now] the gates of hell, therein to abide: and how vile an abode for all who are given to false pride!" 76 So persevere in patience; for the Promise of Allah is true: and whether We show thee (in this life) some part of what We promise them,- or We take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (before that),-(in any case) it is to Us that they shall (all) return. 77 Indeed We sent many Messengers before you: of them there are some whose account We have narrated to you and there are others whose account We have not narrated to you. It did not lie in any Messenger's power to bring any Sign except with Allah's leave. So when Allah's decree came, the matter was decided with justice, and those steeped in error courted utter loss, then and there. 78
