The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
