a large group of the earlier people 39 And a crowd of the later. 40 And those on the left how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Surely they had lived before in luxury, 45 and persisted in the great sin 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 And you have indeed learnt about the first creation, so why do you not ponder? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 Verily we are undone. 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme! 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
