The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
