Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 by the Ten Nights, 2 And the even and the odd, 3 And by the Night when it passeth away;- 4 Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 of Iram, known for their lofty columns, 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? 9 And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? - 10 [All of] whom oppressed within the lands 11 And multiplied therein corruption. 12 (Therefore) your Lord let loose upon them a scourge of punishment; 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by honoring him and favoring him, he says: 'My Lord, has honored me' 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 No. In fact you are not generous to the orphans, 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately, 19 and why do you have an excessive love of riches? 20 No indeed! When the earth is crushed and ground to dust, 21 when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 nor will any bind as He binds. 26 But ah! thou soul at peace! 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 "Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves, 29 enter My Paradise! 30
