In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
