The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens with constellations, 1 And the promised day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 slain were the Men of the Pit, 4 Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel: 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 and they were witnesses of what they did to the believers 7 They had naught against them save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise, 8 Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness. 9 Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire. 10 But those who believe and do good deeds shall be rewarded with gardens watered by flowing rivers. That is the supreme triumph. 11 The grip of your Lord is indeed severe, 12 It is verily He who initiates and repeats. 13 And He only is the Oft Forgiving, the Beloved of His bondmen. 14 Lord of the Throne of Glory, 15 He does what He intends (or wills). 16 Has it come to you the story of the hosts 17 of Pharaoh and of Thamood? 18 In fact the disbelievers are in denial. 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 Nay, but it is a glorious Koran, 21 inscribed on a well-guarded Tablet. 22
