He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives, and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 with darkness overspread: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
