The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
