When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
