The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Was there none but he to whom the Reminder could be vouchsafed excluding all others? Nay; he is an insolent liar.” 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 as a blessing from Us: thus do We reward all who are grateful. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 and even demanded that he give up his guests [to them]: whereupon We deprived them of their sight [and thus told them, as it were]: "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 So taste My chastisement and My warning. 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
