He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 Olives and dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
