Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
