Al-Najm 3 of 3
Have you seen the one who turned away 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
