Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 and that the final end is with your Lord, 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 And that upon Him (Allah) is another bringing forth (Resurrection); 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 and caused them to be covered with that which He covered them with. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
