He who is negligent to remember the Merciful One, to him We assign a satan as his boon companion, 36 Such (evil ones) really hinder them from the Path, but they think that they are being guided aright! 37 Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! 38 It will profit you not this Day (O you who turn away from Allah's remembrance and His worship, etc.) as you did wrong, (and) that you will be sharers (you and your Qarin) in the punishment. 39 Can you, (O Prophet), then make the deaf hear, or direct to the Right Way the blind or one lost in manifest error? 40 We shall punish them whether We take you away, 41 or We show you a part of that which We have promised them, for indeed We have power over them. 42 So hold thou fast unto that which has been revealed unto thee; surely thou art upon a straight path. 43 And verily it is an admonition unto thee and thy people; and presently ye will be questioned. 44 And ask thou Our apostles whom We sent before thee: appointed We gods, beside the Compassionate, to be worshipped? 45
