HAST THOU ever considered [the kind of man] who gives the lie to all moral law? 1 Who turns away the orphan, 2 And does not induce others to feed the needy. 3 Woe to those who pray, 4 but whose hearts are not in their prayer. 5 Those who do good deeds only to be seen (of men), 6 And withhold things of common use (from others). 7
