The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages] ranged in serried ranks, 1 And those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof 2 and the reciters of a Remembrance, 3 Verily your God is One, 4 He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the Lord of the Eastern regions. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars 6 And as protection against every rebellious devil 7 They cannot listen to the exalted assembly and they are thrown at from every side, 8 and driven away to suffer the necessary torment. 9 Save him who snatcheth a fragment, and there pursueth him a piercing flame. 10 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “Are they a stronger creation, or are other things of our creation, (the angels, the heavens etc.)?” We have indeed created them from sticky clay. 11 No wonder you are surprised as they laugh with scorn. 12 When they are reminded, they do not pay heed, 13 and when they become aware of a [divine] message, they turn it to ridicule 14 it and say, "It is only plain magic". 15 "What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again) 16 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 17 Say: 'Yes, and in all lowliness.' 18 There will only be a single jerk, and they will gape, 19 They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" 20 This is the day of the judgment which you called a lie. 21
