The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
