And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
