S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad [These letters (Sad etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Quran full of reminding. 1 Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them. They called: 'The time is neither of escape, nor safety' 3 They marvel now that, from among themselves, a warner has come to them. The unbelievers say: 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 "Has he made the gods (all) into one Allah? Truly this is a wonderful thing!" 5 The chiefs among them go about, exhorting: Go and be staunch to your gods! Lo! this is a thing designed. 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 Here there is a host of the confederates only to be defeated. 11 Cried lies before them the people of Noah, and Ad, and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, 12 and so did Thamud and the people of Lot and the people of Aykah. These were all leagued together. 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
