And indeed We gave Moosa the Book and appointed with him his brother Haroon as a deputy. 35 We told them, "Both of you go to the people who have rejected Our revelations." We completely destroyed these unbelievers. 36 And the people of Noah,- when they rejected the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them as a Sign for mankind; and We have prepared for (all) wrong-doers a grievous Penalty;- 37 And Ad and Samood and the dwellers of the Rass and many generations between them. 38 Each (of them) We warned by examples, and each (of them) We brought to utter ruin. 39 Surely, these people have passed by that habitation on which was rained an evil rain: have they not seen its ruins? But they do not expect another life in the Hereafter. 40 And when they behold thee, they hold thee up for mockery: is this the one whom Allah hath sent as an apostle 41 "He indeed would well-nigh have misled us from our gods, had it not been that we were constant to them!" - Soon will they know, when they see the Penalty, who it is that is most misled in Path! 42 Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him? 43 Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock. Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way. 44
