The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
