In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 Pollution shun! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 and who still desires more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then looked he, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
