The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
