He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you attend; 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble, pious. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing and joyful, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
