۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 They said: 'Then bring him here so that the people may see, so that they may bear witness' 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 With their heads cast down they said, "Abraham, you know that idols do not speak. How then can you ask such a question?" 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 Shame on you and on whatever you worship instead of God. Can you not understand?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve; 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 We encompassed him in Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
