The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
