The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 you pay attention 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
