The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 Tell them that the water is to be apportioned between them (and her); and every turn of drinking will be fixed (for each)." 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lut belied the warnings. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. 37 and early in the morning the punishment decreed overtook them -- 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance.
