The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 and by the Book in lines 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 and the uplifted roof 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
