Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 “And forgive my father* he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 no caring friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
